The Pitch
Busy lives means we are constantly challenged by the need to prioritise. When it comes to the topic of managing our homes in terms of housework and organisation I have read countless articles on how to manage this and many offer the same words of wisdom, 'you just have to let your house go and focus on the more important things'. Who cares if your wardrobe is a mess, kicking a ball around with your kids at the park is far more important and enjoyable. Absolutely I agree, family time is more important but I think this advice is flawed. I truely believe that much of the stress in people's lives comes from the fact that they feel like their houses are not organised and this immediately provokes the feeling of anxiety and stress. Those dreaded words that you hear countless times a week “where is my….?”, argh!! You smile because you know exactly what I am talking about! Living in an organised space creates a calmness that cannot be felt if you are distracted and stressed out about “too much stuff” or “stuff all over the place”.
Can tidying your house really change things that much?
Yes it can! Decide to get your house in order, decide to examine everything in your house, decide what you want to keep in your life, what things make you happy and decide where to put those things. Decluttering happens organically when you start the process of tidying. The process is not about persuading you to throw away all the possessions you hold dear, it’s about deciding what items you want to have in your life, rediscovering them and finding a place to put them. The feeling of being organised is one that you will discover to be so liberating you will be inspired to keep going until you have found a place for everything.
The Approach Matters
How you approach the task of getting your house in order can determine your likelihood of success in the long term. We could talk about the different approaches and why they succeed or fail but instead let's focus on the strategy that has the best chance of success. By success I mean you won’t have to repeat the process again in 1, 2 or 5 years time. I want you to decide to start tidying now and tidy well from start to finish so there is no returning to clutter and chaos. Working with Tidy Transformations will set you on your way, making sure you stay on task and believe it or not make sure you enjoy the experience along the way.
